THE BRAND
Worthy Park Estate, founded in 1670 in the parish of St. Catherine, sixty kilometers north of Kingston Town, is an ancient property dated 1670, granted to the British lieutenant Francis Price for the services offered to Cromwell during the conquest of the island at the expense of the Spanish.
Managed by only three families in 340 years, it has been active as a sugar refinery since 1720 and produces rum since 1741, which is why it can be considered the oldest distillery in the world still in operation.
In 1962, however, for some decades it operated only as sugar refinery. The distillery closed due to the economic policy that followed the independence of Jamaica. The distillery reopened in 2005 establishing itself as one of the most important and prestigious producers of rum in the Caribbean.
