THE BRAND

The Trois Rivieres Distillery history, dates back to 1660 when Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of the finances of King Louis XIV, won the largest concession ever awarded in the Caribbean, but felling in disfavor before he was able to realize his dream to found a viceroyalty in the Tropics. The distillery is named after the fact it is located on the edge of three rivers (trois rivieres): Bois d'Inde, Oman and St. Pierre.

The domain passed through various hands till 1785, when Etienne Isaïe Marraud Des Grottes, a rich landowner from the North of the island, purchased the plantations, adding rum distillation to the existing sugar production.

In 1905 Amédée Aubéry, landowner and industrialist, bought Trois Rivieres, modernizing the site, stopping sugar production and focusing on rum. In 1940, his son expanded the plantation and transferred the Dizac distillery from Diamant to Trois Rivieres producing solely pure sugarcane juice rums.

In 1953 the Marraud des Grottes family, owner of the Duquesne brand bought back the domain commercializing Trois Rivieres aged rums under the Duquesne brand until 1972. A few years later Trois Rivieres rums reappeared on the market and the 1980s first exportations to France, then to the rest of Europe began.

In 1994 the distillery is bought by BBS group, already owner of La Mauny rums, obtaining in 1996 the AOC label (Protected Designation of Origin).

In 2004 its production was transferred to Riviere Pilote, house of La Mauny distillery and its precious stills, reassembled on the new site.
