Distilled in 1993, aged 10 years and bottled at Distillerie de Fonds-Préville.
THE BRAND
The Distillerie J.M, founded in 1845 by Jean-Marie Martin on the Fonds-Préville estate, is the oldest still active distillery in Martinique. The estate was established in 1790 by Antoine Leroux-Préville, when he purchased the estate and the sugar refinery from the Jesuit priest, Father Pére Labat, renaming it Fonds-Préville.
The J.M modern history started in 1914, when due to financial difficulties, Gustave Crassous de Medeuil, distiller and owner of the neighbouring estate, bought the distillery unifying the Fonds-Préville and Bellevue estates and renaming it J.M Crassous de Medeuil.
The first ‘Rhum J.M’ brand appeared on the market only in the 1980s.
In 2002, Group Bernard Hayot bought the distillery and trademark, heavily reinvesting in the brand and property. In 2015 also a second column still were installed and thanks to extensive lenghts taken to convert the J.M Crassous de Medeuil to a no-waste distillery, today is one of the most efficient in the world.
